GENE GOULD'S ART -- THIRD PERIOD

This painting is an homage to Rembrandt by Gene Gould.

The Rembrandt's painting "Old woman seated" was part of an exchange between the Moscow State Pushkin Museum and the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, where Gene Gould lived at the time.

An unusual feature of the Rembrandt's painting, also present in Gene Gould's work, is that the ring on the lady's hand has a build up of paint applied in such a way that, at certain viewing angles, it reflects light as a real gem would. This cannot be seen on reproductions.
